On Skid Row in Los Angeles, a criminal court judge organizes a running club for recovering addicts, homeless people, ex-cons, and others who are working to get their lives back on track. As they train together to run marathons in far-flung locations such as Ghana and Rome, the club provides its members with a renewed sense of purpose and much-needed encouragement and support.
