High school English teacher and disgraced author Nicholas Cutler thinks his luck has finally changed when it looks like his latest novel will be published. But a pregnant girlfriend, a student in trouble with the law, and a gravely ill brother-in-law all complicate matters, and when his book is passed over for one written by his least-favorite student, Cutler is forced to reconsider what’s most important in his life.
